"It's a Boy", "Its's a Girl"

This is an origami flower, I made for our school, I am designing these little corsages to be sold at the football games with a portion of the profits to go to the school.  Our school colors are black and orange, and are called the "Dutchmen".  If you notice, the school logo is on the flowers.  I like this idea, and am using it on other projects, as well. For those of you who make paper flowers, think of the possibilities!  You could put a sentiment on them, personalize with a person's name, Express affection by printing "Love you" on them, Print "baby"  for a shower decoration, the possibilities are limitless.  I am really excited about this!  It doesn't have to stop with flowers, either.  On any small paper project that can fit through your printer can be done this way.You could personalize wrapping paper for small gifts, handmade envelopes, cards, anything.  I simply go into photoshop and pick the watermark for my background, on mine you can choose if you want it straight, or at a chosen angle, how close together you want the words, size, color of font, and etc.  You are only limited by your imagination.  I also use background designs and print my own graphics to personalize my items, say, like my granddaughter likes zebra print, if I can't find paper I like, I just print my own, and then make the flowers for her from that.  I've added various other pictures, sorry they aren't in a very nice layout, I can't seem to get my pictures to line up where and in the order I want them in my posts, so I just fight with them a little and then let them decide where they want to sit (kind of like kids in a car fighting over who sits where, or at the table...sound familiar?!).  This isn't the idea of the century, it's just a simple little thought that might make your flowers and pennants, and other paper items more personal, or themed in a way you would like.

  1. Very beautiful. I'm just loving it. I'm using a different writer now. I don't use the blogger writer. It was too difficult and pictures kept deleting, too. Now I use Windows Live Writer. Much easier. Best wishes. Linda

  2. Hello Jane!

  4. Hello Jane,
It is so nice to meet you. I was blog hopping and found your awesome blog. Those flowers are just gorgeous. I don't have photoshop and wouldn't know how to use it...I wish I did. I am 55 years old and quite computer illiterate....I make and trade ATC'S...Artist Trading Cards...I requested a sewing machine for Christmas and I was "blessed" with one...but it is still in the box...fearful to take it out...I want to teach myself to sew more than anything...what would be the best way to learn how to make the flowers you make...the easiest flower.....the easiest thing to sew first...I have no grandchildren. My only son is 28 years old and has been married for 4 years. My only beloved daughter is in heaven. She battled cancer since she was 10 1/2 years old and 16 months ago at the age of 33 she went home to husband and I took care of her the last 2 months of her life in our home with hospice over seeing our care. I miss her of every second of every day. Feb. 1, 2011 her bff leila went home to heaven after a 15 month plus battle with ovarian cancer. She is buried at the foot of Amy's grave because my husband and I will be buried beside Amy. I am a Christian also and without the mercy and love of Jesus, I simply would not have made it. My blog is also a praying blog and it is an honor to pray for any one in need.
I will become your friend/follower when I am through with my babbling. I love friend better than follower because I love having friends and being a friend.
I would be honored if you decided to be my friend so that we can share our lives, crafts family, and art.

  6. Hi Jane!

I stumbled across your blog by clicking 'Bible' under my favorite books, just exploring other Christians' blogs. I'm a college student and my craft is graphic design & drawing. I also love hands-on crafty things but I haven't worked on anything recently!

I just want to say that your blog's cute, you're just adorable and I love the paper flowers you made! I'd love to learn how to make something so lovely.

Don't be so hard on yourself (I read your going overboard on the necklace entry). I think it's great to go overboard, because then you know your super into what you're working on! You can also modify it or if all else fails, start over! But I think it's great that you make such artsy things! Good luck with it and God bless!
